Our Mission & Values

YAAG exists to support young adults with disabilities by providing safe, inclusive, and affordable social opportunities. Our priority is ensuring that every young adult can participate, regardless of financial circumstances

Financial Stewardship
YAAG is a registered nonprofit. All financial decisions — including event pricing, budgeting, and use of donated funds — are handled exclusively by the YAAG Board of Directors. Parents and participants are welcome to share concerns, but final decisions rest with the board to ensure consistency, compliance, and fairness

Event Costs & Assistance
YAAG strives to keep events affordable

• When possible, we structure events at a break-even cost
• YAAG funds may be used to assist families who cannot pay the full amount
• No young adult will ever be excluded due to financial hardship
• Small overages (for example, $2–$5 per participant) are normal and allowed for nonprofits, and they are reinvested directly into YAAG programming

Donations & Subsidies
YAAG is supported by board-approved donations, including voluntary contributions made by board members. These funds may be used to:

• Cover event costs
• Subsidize participation for families in need
• Ensure accessibility and inclusion for all members

Role Clarity
To maintain smooth operations and protect the integrity of YAAG:

• Parents are not board members unless formally appointed
• Parents may not direct, override, or challenge board decisions regarding finances, contracts, or event structure
• Concerns may be submitted respectfully to the board for review
• Board members will communicate final decisions clearly and promptly

Communication Expectations
YAAG values kindness, respect, and collaboration
We ask all parents and participants to:

• Communicate concerns directly and respectfully
• Avoid spreading misinformation
• Refrain from directing board operations or event management
• Trust the board to act in the best interest of the entire YAAG community

Our Commitment
YAAG will continue to:

• Provide inclusive events
• Support families with financial needs
• Use all funds responsibly and transparently
• Maintain a safe, positive environment for our young adults
